SOLARIUM
We have solariums at Kallio, Kontula, Malmi, Mäkelänrinne, Töölö and Vuosaari. You can use the solarium by paying the per visit fee (5,50€) or by purchasing a 10-visit card (45€).
One solarium booking is 30 minutes, with tanning time of 20 minutes per visit.
For enquiries and bookings please contact the hall’s customer service.
Using the solarium is no safer than sunbathing. The UV rays are equally harmful regardless of where you were exposed to them. Using solarium during pregnancy will not affect fetal development, and the effects of UV radiation will be limited to the mother’s skin.
Solarium user’s checklist
- You should never stay in the solarium for so long that your skin is red after your visit. Be particularly careful during your first few visits, especially if your skin is not yet tanned. Five minutes is a suitable starting time for most people. Always adjust the length of your visit according to how much your skin can handle.
- Follow the machine’s instructions and do not exceed the recommended time.
- Many of the UV radiation’s harmful effects depend on the lifetime amount of radiation. Limit your number of solarium visists to 10 per year and also pay attention to how often you sunbathe.
- Always use eye protection. Keeping your eyes closed is not always enough to protect them from the solariums strong UV radiation.
- Do not use the solarium if you are on prescription medication without first consulting your doctor. Certain medicinal substances increase the skin’s sensitivity to light.
- Remove all make-up. You should not use products that promise to darken your tan. Some cosmetics increase the skin’s sensitivity to UV radiation, increasing the risk of burns.
- You should not try to treat skin conditions with a solarium on your own. Consult a dermatologist for advice. Special UV treatment devices exist for medical use.
- Monitor your skin and visit a doctor if a mole becomes itchy, starts to bleed, grows or changes in appearance. A skin cancer prognosis will be better the earlier the illness is detected.
You should not use the solarium if
- you are under 18 years of age
- your skin is sensitive to the sun and does not easily tan
- you have spent time in the sun that particular day
- you are using medication that makes you sensitive to UV radiation or are ill
- you or one of your relatives has or has had skin cancer
